CASE 2
Daytime At-Home Teeth Whitening
This patient wished to brighten their smile but preferred not to wear trays overnight. This option is also ideal for patients who already use a night guard for bruxism and therefore need an alternative to nighttime whitening.
We prescribed Philips Zoom DayWhite, a professional take-home whitening system. The gel contains hydrogen peroxide, which gently penetrates the enamel and breaks down stain molecules responsible for tooth discoloration, without altering the natural tooth structure.
The same custom trays—fabricated from 1 mm medical-grade EVA thermoplastic material, vacuum-formed on a precise 3D-printed model—were used to ensure comfort, accuracy, and even gel distribution.
Unlike the overnight protocol, DayWhite is worn during the day, twice daily for approximately 30–60 minutes per session, following a personalized plan. The treatment typically lasts 2–3 weeks, depending on the desired level of whitening and individual response.
Temporary tooth sensitivity or mild gum irritation may occur but usually resolves quickly after treatment.
